I got this to replace a dining room light fixture that rattled when my upstairs tenant did laundry. I wanted something that wouldn't rattle and was close to the ceiling so it didn't intrude down into the room. The black industrial look works well in my space, which is a combination of arts & crafts and industrial. I can't vouch for ease of assembly because an electrician did it as part of a renovation project that happened while I was on vacation. But the size is great for a medium size room (mine is 12 x 14).
